The Chilchos Valley is the second of three books of the series Ethnographic Monographs by Inge Schjellerup<\/a>\u00a0et al.<\/p>\n

This book is about the Chilchos Valley in the northeastern slopes of the Andes in Peru. It attempts to understand how human activities have changed the landscape in the montane forests during the last 500 years. Settlements and terraces from the Chachapoya and Inca cultures<\/a> in the Ceja de Selva (high jungle) witness of an ample use in pre-Hispanic times.<\/p>\n

Later after a drastic declination of the population in the colonial period the Chilchos Valley was forgotten in hundreds of years and then rediscovered and revisited in 1900. Within the stage of rediscovering the valley, new socio-cultural processes of adaptation to the environment began with migrations from the Sierra.<\/p>\n

The Chilchos Valley has two parts with the same content. The first part is in Spanish and the last part in English.<\/p>\n

Este libro es sobre el valle de Los Chilchos, ubicado en la vertiente de los Andes nororientales del Per\u00fa. Trata de entender como las actividades umanas han cambiado los paisajes en los bosques montanos, durante los \u00faltimos 500 a\u00f1os. Asentamientos y andener\u00eda de las culturas Chachapoya e Inca en la ceja de selva, son testigos de una amplia utilizaci\u00f3n en tiempos pre-hisp\u00e1nicos.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s una dr\u00e1stica declinaci\u00f3n de la poblaci\u00f3n en el tiempo colonial, el valle de Los Chilchos fue olvidado por cientos de a\u00f1os y redescubierto en el a\u00f1o 1900. Con la etapa del redescubrimiento see iniciaron nuevos procesos socio-culturales de adaptaci\u00f3n al medio ambiente con migraciones de la sierra.<\/p>\n

Tiene dos partes con el mismo contenido, la primera parte est\u00e1 en espa\u00f1ol y la \u00faltima parte en ingl\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
